Friday Junior Training and Social Night is On with a Quiz afterwards

So one week on and the sun dance looks like it might be working ……… well that’s what the Met Office website says for the days ahead ……….

  • With a couple of sunny days ahead the ground should be dry enough for our first junior training night on Friday beginning at 6pm.
  • The bar will be open from around 5.30pm and I can hear the cheers now as Jackie’s famous food will be available in all its different formats!
  • We will also be kicking the season off in style with a famous (and infamous) Bob Flack quiz starting at 8pm – probably teams of up to 6. Just turn up in a team or we will find teams on the evening

Spare Kit

It’s that time of the year when you might be looking at last season’s kit and thinking “it isnt big enough or it doesn’t fit, how could they have grown so much in such a short time” – we always welcome any donations of unwanted kit as it allows us to ensure that we can make cricket accessible to more people than would otherwise be the case. Please drop any kit up to the club (let someone on the committee know so we don;t think it’s “Lost Property”!!) – thank you!

A Full Season Ahead – Thank You in Advance

With the 4 Men’s League sides, our Women’s League side and 9 junior teams we have a huge amount of cricket planned – there are already 62 fixtures at Bovey planned between now and the end of August …… and that’s before more cup games get added!

Whilst the Men’s league sides play on Saturdays, The Women’s league side often play on a Sunday and the junior games are also on Sundays and Tuesdays and Thursdays – add in our weekly training nights for Juniors and Seniors on Mondays and Wednesdays as well as Softball and Social on a Friday night and the ground will be used most days!

Remember you can see all fixtures for the season via the club website or direct via Play Cricket

My huge thanks in advance to everyone who makes this happen – it is no mean feat!

From Committee Members to the Ground Crew, from those who help Jackie in the kitchen, make cakes, run the bar or take orders and run drinks on Fridays to the Mens and Women’s Captains and Junior Managers, not to mention the parental taxi services (and everyone else I might have forgotten!) ……… It is some undertaking by a massive group of volunteers to run one of the biggest Cricket Clubs in Devon!

……. and finally for this week ………. if you haven’t already saved the date, then Sunday 30th July is Devon vs Somerset at Bovey (and yes, Somerset will bat first this year!) – tickets will be available soon via the Somerset website and we will keep you posted on plans

Now off to carry on my sundance – looking up right now, whilst there is some light cloud, I need my sunglasses as well as my hat – yippeee!

Until next week
