BTCC Weekly Update – Super Sunday 16th July, Match Reports – Women, Under 13 Gris, Under 19 Team and More

Hi all

After a week of somewhat unsettled weather the forecast for Friday is looking “mmmmmmm interesting” – as it stands the bar will be open from around 5.30pm with junior training starting at 6pm – food as usual courtesy of Jackie.

If however the weather beats us then we will make a call and let you know what is happening as early as we can – whatever the weather the bar will be open for those who would like to “relax into the weekend”.

Fingers crossed!

Women’s Match Report

The Women’s team came away with their second league win of the season against Exeter 2s away. Bovey bowled first and got Exeter all out for 115 after 21 overs. It was a great team performance with 6 different bowlers taking wickets, including three for Libby Hancock and two apiece for Katie Southcott and Lily Driver.

A great catch in the field from Chloe Hayes stopped their top batter from reaching 50.

A solid batting performance from Holly Evans (30 not out) and Kelly Luscombe (57 not out) saw Bovey Women gain a well deserved win.

It was another tough weekend across our Saturday teams – the highlight was a great result for the 2nd XI away at Sandford. Having been put into bat we made a creditable 212 for 8 in our reduced 39 overs due to rain. Great contributions from Abraham Kopparambil (39), Jake Pascoe (39) and 44 not out from Arren De Young.

We bowled really well to reduce Sandford to 108 all out in 32 overs – 2 wickets for 2 runs from 3 overs for Abraham was a huge help but it was Harry Pitman who “blew the opposition away” with stunning figures of 7 overs, 1 maiden, 5 wickets for 14 runs – amazing!!

What a fantastic match…… very proud of the performance from all today…..

Isabelle Bradley, our captain scored the winning runs with a stunning 4 in the final over! Excellent organisation of our field, 11 runs and took a wicket.

Darcy Limb (u11) in her first hard ball game showed great character in the field. After some ice on her shin, went again and contributed some valuable runs opening the batting with her big sister Hermione. Hermione scored 5 runs and took a wicket.

Marley Warren took an awesome catch while wicket keeping and 9 runs, including a lovely 4!

Zoe Geddard was a cool head batting at the end of the innings in a partnership that got us over the line. Bowling was very tidy, our best economy rate 1.5, the only bowler in the match to achieve a maiden!

Ella Bradley (u11) took a wicket as did Beth Topping (again an u11 playing up), they both fielded well and contributed runs

Finally, we come to the player of the match Evie Lockett, 2 wickets, 2.5 economy rate! Plus top scored with 13 runs!

Such a good performance, so many improvements in our fielding (mainly). So a big shout out and thank you to Ash Causey and Harry for the Monday night fielding sessions. Well listened girls – practice and focus equals wins!

Under 19’s Start with a Big Win!

The Under 19 team kicked off their T20 season with a big win at home vs Paignton.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, we reached a cracking 167 for 2 in our 20 overs with great performances all round

We then reduced Paignton to 148 for 9 in their 20 overs – wickets for Rory Wolfe, Abbie Lockett, Jack Ansley and Harry Pitman – 3 wickets for Sam Harvey and 2 run-outs from a Jake Pascoe/Harry Bannister combination!

Next up are ipplepen at home on Thursday 20th July at 6pm
