BTCC Stop Press – Chairman’s and President’s Game Cancelled – Bovey Blitz Are Devon Champions

A quick update – we have decided to cancel the Chairman’s vs Presidents game tomorrow as we were short of players – On a positive note, this gives the Grounds Team an extra day to prepare the square for refurbishment next week!

Bovey Blitz are Devon Champions

Our Under 19 Team was at Cornwood today and came away Devon winners in the ECB Under 19 T20 Cup

Their semi final was against Hatherleigh – with tight bowling they got Hatherleigh all out for just 80. A wicket each for Harry Pitman and Sam Harvey, 2 for Ben Kay and 3 each for Harry Mount and Jack Ansley. A fine performance behind the stumps for Harry Bannister with 4 catches and a stumping.

We knocked the runs off in just 12 overs winning by 10 wickets thanks to 48 not out from Jake Pascoe and 20 not out from Harvey Brown

……. and so on to the final against the host club Cornwood.

Having been put into bat we made an epic 192 for 6 from our 20 overs – all the batters contributed, with 39 from Jake Pascoe and 33 not out from Ryan Jones – the innings though was under-pinned by an amazing 50 not out (retired) from Sam Harvey including 3 sixes and 6 fours.

Thanks to a great tight bowling performance Cornwood were always well off the pace and lost wickets constantly, finishing 81 all out – Bovey Blitz winning by 111 runs!

Again all the bowlers contributed with 2 wickets a piece for Sam Harvey, Ben Kay and Harry Pitman – plus 2 run outs from Ryan Jones.

A magnificent achievement and a huge well done not just to the team who played today, but the whole squad who got us to the finals
